We had the good fortune of connecting with Mila Shmurak and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mila, what is the most important factor behind your success?
We value our customers and with every order and product you can feel the love in it. We are always available to help answer questions and understanding that armpit care is a lifestyle you can feel good about with Bare Pits. When I noticed that there was a lack of natural deodorants on the market for sensitive skin and one that truly worked, my passion for true natural and organic products helped me create Bare Pits. I am a mom of 4 and my top priority is raising good kids and being a good wife. Part of setting the right examples for my family was growing this business and has allowed me to show them to follow dreams and not to give up even when you don’t have all the answers or something doesn’t work. I always keep learning and keep pushing. “Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.” I stand behind this because when my idea for Bare Pits became reality I knew I was on a mission to help others. I love to help people transition to a natural deodorant, explain why and how to do it, understand what ingredients to look for and how to gain confidence again.     

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe my art comes from being able to understand that everyone has different chemistry and different needs in regards to armpit care and I am proud to be able to deliver options to all. We use organic and food grade ingredients to create the best natural deodorant options. Before COVID-19 shows were my favorite. I loved meeting people in person and helping them understand how to take control of armpit detoxing and proper care. I am happy that my journey hasn’t always been so easy. I have learned through mistakes and understanding each failure has made me continue this journey t o provide armpit and body care for sensitive skin. I always tell my kids don’t give up when things seem uneasy . OUR STORY: Bare Pits was born when our founder, Mila, mom of 4 was on the hunt for a natural deodorant that worked and felt good. She had postpartum depression after her 3rd son was born and she knew she needed to create an outlet to help women (which is her passion). With her mother in law being a breast cancer survivor, she knew that aluminum could definitely be a part of the problem. Her passion for real pure ingredients and determination to educate women on the way your skin works and the steps that need to be taken is how Bare Pits was born. Many companies claim natural ingredients but are not truly natural and irritate the skin. She tried so many natural deodorants on the market. Either they didn’t work or she would end up with a rash. Mila’s focus was creating a natural armpit care line for sensitive skin which is baking soda free, aluminum free, alcohol free, fragrance free, and paraben free. After lots of research, trial and error, Mila developed an armpit care line just like a skin care. DETOX..CLEANSE..NOURISH Her passion doesn’t stop. Her joy is to continue to provide customers with innovative, creative and clean products – skincare that promotes health and vitality instead of taking away from it. Understanding how real natural ingredients that are derived from nature for maximum purity and potency work together and how each person has a different skin type and chemistry, we are able to keep creating truly natural products that work and feel good. The ingredients are organic and food grade to nourish the skin while keeping pores open, absorbing moisture and neutralizing odor while killing bacteria. Our staple scents (organic essential oils) are lavender vanilla, love rose, infused gardenia, vanilla orange, breathe, and lemon grapefruit We always tell our customers there are steps to follow, beginning with an armpit detox that removes build of chemicals and bacteria to open up your pores. Once you do, Bare Pits has created so many different options that will work with your chemistry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, things have changed a bot here in Orange County, but the beauty is still the same. We have the most gorgeous beaches that take all your stress away. Fashion Island shopping mall is a beautiful one for fun shopping. We have gorgeous hikes and parks in Newport Beach and Irvine where my kids love to play. We love Taiko sushi, Driftwood Kitchen in Laguna Beach is our favorite place to eat.    

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to say thank you to my husband, Joseph for his continuous support of what started as a hobby and now moved into a business selling online, Amazon, and working with big online and TV retailers. Also to my designer, Jesse Green who understands my brand and has created my logo and is working on our new website.
